Home Furnishing Tips

Your home is your haven. Though it is true that the home decor speaks for the host’s personality and taste, it is equally true that, it is not the guests but, you, who has to live in the house. Primarily, your home has to be a place that makes you feel safe, cheerful and comfortable. Impressing the world is secondary. While furnishing your home, this should be the operational principle: ‘that which makes you happy’.

That aside, here are some basic pointers to build your own haven:
  • Invest in recliners

It might not seem like a necessity, but having a comfortable recliner to sink into after a tiring day at work or home is a divine feeling. A comfortable recliner that suits your needs and body dimensions would be a perfect place for you to de-stress with a cup of coffee, a novel or your favourite movie. Browse, research and look for the best recliner chair in India before making the purchase.
  •  Use a rug
A rug can truly make or break your living room ambiance and future conversations. Pick a colour that blends with the overall theme or perhaps even a contrast to tie the seating area together. Ensure that the legs of all the furniture: coffee table, 2 seater recliner sofas and 3 seater sofas, etc. are on the carpet and not outside. The furniture should preferably be placed in the shape of a ‘U’ or an ‘H’.
  •  Use mirrors

If you have noticed, most sophisticated interiors will have one ornamental piece of mirror in each room. In fact, this is a characteristic feature in palaces across the world. There are two reasons for this, if the mirror is placed perpendicular to the source of natural light, the light gets reflected through the room, and illuminates it further. Secondly, mirrors make the rooms appear bigger than they actually are. You can incorporate ornamental mirrors in your living room and bed rooms and make them look brighter and bigger.
  • Use high curtains

Space constraints are a problem in urban apartments with low ceiling giving them a box like appearance. While this structural space deficiency cannot be eliminated, you can definitely optically camouflage this. You can create an optical illusion of high ceilings by using full length curtains that run from ceiling to floor. Additionally, an accent chair or a 2 seater recliner chairs would look great against the backdrop of a curtain.

These tips will make your space look more cheerful, spacious , inviting and comforting. Enjoy and chill in your safe haven. All the best!
